Being offered is a sterling silver Christmas ornament made by Gorham Silversmiths of Providence, Rhode Island, circa 1972. It is of a Mount Vernon Dove with an olive branch in its beak. An olive branch represents peace, good-will and friendship dating back to the story on Noah and The Flood. As a harbinger of happy tidings and peace to the world the dove brings an olive branch.
