Unusual, tall, Edwardian Period, sterling silver, wood-backed picture frame, Sheffield, England, year-hallmarked for 1914, James Deakin and Sons (John and William F. Deakin) – makers. The frame will stand both horizontally and vertically. The frame measures 9 inches high x 5 inches wide x 5 3/4 inches deep when easel is in the open position and will hold a photo that is 5 inches x 8 1/2 inches. The oval window of the frame will show 3 1/2 x 7 inches of that photo. The egg and dart border motif on the border of the frame is also continued on the oval border of the window of the frame. There are a few very, very tiny dints on the silver (see photos) that are commensurate with age and use. Dark areas in the photos are reflections. In good antique condition.
