Pair of Silk Armchairs by Jules Leleu, Re-Issued in 1986

Beautiful pair of art déco armchairs Designed by Jules Leleu in 1929, and re-issued in 1986 for La Mamounia hotel Marrakesh which was commissioned by Jacques Garcia.
This beautiful pair of armchairs have been produced in a stunning light wood structure, with darker veneers, and are resting on 2 front chromed metal balls. They retain the original textile and the makers mark.

Jules Leleu began his career in the painting studio founded by his father and then devoted himself fully to interior decoration and furniture production, overseen by his brother Marcel, in the family business. His notoriety grew from 1925, thanks to the success of the furniture he designed for the French ambassador’s reception room at the Decorative Arts Exhibition. Leleu’s furnishings were inspired by the Regency and neoclassical styles of the 18th century, which he reinterpreted and simplified in their decorative apparatus.
