This is a very beautiful Ironstone Cabinet Plate, all hand painted and made by Mason’s during the period when the factory was owned by the Ashworth Brothers, Hanley, Staffordshire, England, during the very early 20th Century Edwardian period, circa 1900.
This is a nominally circular plate with a hexagonal raised fluted cavetto and wavy rim.
The pattern is beautifully executed , all hand painted with a central exotic bird within a six sided border, having heart shaped cartouches surrounded by a yellow marbled or scaled effect design. Each heart has a pink rose within it.
The whole effect produces a very high quality individual design, with bold enamels and with additional gold hand gilding.
The base has a black printed crown & banner with MASONS above, together with a hand painted “C 1563” in light green.
