Vintage Design
Exquisite secretaire made in France during the Napoleon III period, mid 19th century. It presents extraordinary marquetry of good workmanship; different woods are used for the ornaments, both polygonal and floral of great delicacy. This is achieved thanks to the combination of veneers of different tones (rosewood, violetwood and rosewood). This magnificent secretaire is raised on four legs, the two front ones with sablots. Its straight profile front has four registers and a hinged service front. This folding front is the bureau or desk itself, with embossed leather in English green. It houses two small drawers and more storage space. All the fittings, including the handles, are in gilded bronze and then chiseled. Light, practical and versatile furniture. Crowning the cabinet is an extraordinary top in Breche d’Alep marble. On the back there is a sticker.
Small flaws that are detailed in the images, which do not interfere with the overall view of the whole. One of the compass hinge needs intervention.
