Fully Restored Whisky Brown Leather Lutyen’s Viceroy Sofa, circa 1900

A very good looking and rare sofa, the style comes from the original Victorian sofas made by Lutyen’s, the family are still in business today.

This sofa is a fantastic size, its rare to find sub 160cm piece that can very comfortably seat two people, the main reason is due to the thin straight arms, there is no wasted space. The cushions are what’s called Thomas Chippendale style floating button cushions, it means they have a small arrangement of buttons as was used in the 18th century on Wingback armchairs by the greatest furniture maker in England’s history Thomas Chippendale. His period chairs sell in the millions. The cushions are fully leather upholstered on both sides so should the worse happen and you damage one side you can simply flip it over

In terms of the restoration this sofa has had the full works, the legs are new, they are solid so to the frame and not later screw ins, they have Victorian style porcelain castors, the upholstery was lightly washed back then hand dyed six times this glorious whisky brown colour which is exclusive to my leather polishers

Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
