Pair of 1904 Restored Sterling Silver Henry Wigfull Candelabra Candlesticks

These are a pair of Edward VII Sterling Silver five-light Candelabra, by Henry Wigfull of Sheffield 1904, they have been fully restored by the genius that is Clive Burr at the Goldsmiths Centre in Farringdon London. The pair have been realigned, any issues such as scratches resolved, then professionally polished, the restoration cost in the four figures and was worth every penny

Each on square base stamped with foliage and with a ribbon-tied twisted reeded stem and foliage-cast sockets, the detachable branches with four leaf-capped branches and foliage-cast sockets and with a further central socket.

These can be used for single candle, as four branch of five branch, as you can see they completely dismantle, they have all the original removable sleeps and supports, these are a very fine pair and will change an entire room with their presence

Founded in 1871 with George Shadford Lee as Senior Partner and Henry Wigfull, a Britannia metal smith and son of the owner of Sheaf Corn Mills on Forge Lane. By 1879 the business had been dissolved but Henry Wigfull did not change the company name when he registered the silver mark ‘HW’. By 1881 he was employing 100 people in Stag Works on John Street and had an office on Holborn Viaduct in London. The company also won a first-class award at the Melborne International Exhibition in 1880. The company continued after the Second World War, however, there were no longer members of the Wigfull family running it. By the early 1960s Lee & Wigfull became part of the Sipelia Group and was last listed in 1969.
